Wes Barr has been training and handling pointing dogs for over 30 years and retrieving (labs and other retrieving breeds) dogs for 20+ years. Several training options are available from puppy programs to help your newest member get started on the right foot, to advanced training for championship competition.

Obedience Training

If time and kennel space are available, Barr Kennels will take pets for obedience training.

Field Training

Ample birds are available via our Johnny House and Pigeon Loft assuring your dog will be exposed to plenty of birds. This provides expansive training ensuring your needs as the owner will be met. Our on-site training field and modern equipment are utilized in the experienced hands of Wes and staff to move your hunting companion at the pace they need. Our main goal is to pair your dog with the right type of training producing results.

Snake Avoidance Training

There is no fool proof plan to ensure your dog will not have an unfortunate encounter with a snake. Barr Kennels' snake avoidance training helps to satisfy the curious instinct your dog might have if they encounter a rattle snake and in doing so, your dog will be taught to avoid the snake by sight, sound and smell. This specialized training is seasonal and by special appointment only.
